What colors would be best for my kitchen?

We have medium dark wood cabinets, and faux dark-blue marble countertops. Also have all black appliances - stove, fridge, micro.
So we are getting the kitchen repainted and getting new flooring, what colors would mesh well w/the appliances, counters & cabinets? If I wanted it to pull it all together and make it look professional & contemporary. Looking for wall color & vinyl flooring color/style.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Why can’t I find a good job in Chicago?

I quit my job working for a department store’s interior design studio because the pay was horrible and the training was lacking. I’m husband has a good paying job so we’ll not suffering, and I figured I could find my dream job after a few months of intensive searching. I’m still unemployed after 8 months. I have been applying online for positions in architectural firms but entry-level jobs are scare in the interior design industry. I’ve had only 4 or 5 interviews this year. I have degrees in interior design and psychology.

What colors should I make my kitchen walls and floor?

I currently have very nice oak cabinets and white appliances. My walls currently have green/burgandy sponge painting all over white walls and burgandy trim with a burgandy/green border near the ceiling. It is too loud for me. I was thinking of painting the walls a creamy soft yellow. I don’t want to change the burgandy trim if I don’t have to. Also, I was thinking of changing the flooring to either terrecotta colored tiles (or lineloum) or maybe a neutral/beige tile. It is a rather large kitchen with medium sunlight, but very nice receding lights in ceiling. I also have an oak island in the middle of the room, and a white table and white chairs with oak legs. Your thoughts would really help me. Thanks!
BK
P.S. Can I paint directly over the sponge painting?

I want to be an interior decorator for model homes, but how?

I have an eye for decorating. My house is beautiful and I have several people who want me to do their own homes. I do not have a degree nor have I ever gone to school for interior design. The closest design school is over an hour away. I have two jobs and can’t manage the school as well.
I would love to be an interior decorator for model homes. Does anyone have any ideas how I would have to go about this? I never see any listings online or in the paper for decorator for model homes…
